The Good Doctor season 3 is all set for Dr. Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore) in a new role. Creator and showrunner David Shore said that the character would experience things he has never felt before.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shore hinted that Shaun would be testing the waters of intimacy in The Good Doctor season 3. As a character in the autism spectrum, this will bring new challenges for Shaun.
“We’re putting him in the role of suitor,” Shore said. “I want to explore all those landmarks that happen in all our lives as we grow up and just explore it through his eyes, which really aren’t that different, ultimately.”
Viewers got a whiff of this when Shaun asked Carly (played by Jasika Nicole) out on a date at the end of The Good Doctor season 2 finale, and she agreed. Shore said that Shaun would have some success in the dating scene in the third season, but he will also experience failures.
