The Good Doctor Season 3 : Is Going to Be SO Different From the First Two Seasons ?

  • The Good Doctor season 3 is scheduled to premiere as part of ABC’s fall TV lineup.
  • The majority of the Good Doctor cast is expected to return for season 3.
  • Fans of The Good Doctor can expect season 3 to focus heavily on Dr. Shaun Murphy’s budding love life.

It’s official: ABC has renewed its beloved medical drama The Good Doctor for a third season – and after the show’s drama-filled season 2 finale, fans are anxiously awaiting the return of Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) and the rest of the St. Bonaventure staff. Until then, here’s everything we know about The Good Doctor season 3 so far.

When will The Good Doctor return for season 3?

ABC recently confirmed that The Good Doctor will return later this year as part of its fall TV lineup. If past season premiere dates are any indication, this means that season 3 will officially premiere sometime in September.

How can I watch The Good Doctor season 3?

You’ll have a couple of different options when deciding how to watch The Good Doctorseason 3. First, you’ll be able to watch the show live on ABC when it returns to its regular 10 p.m. slot on Mondays. If you can’t catch the new episodes as they air, however, they’ll also be available for later viewing on the ABC website, in the ABC app, or on-demand. (PSA: If you have a Hulu subscription, you can also catch up on – or re-watch – all of the episodes in seasons 1 and 2 now.)

Will the cast still be the same in season 3?

From what we know so far, it seems safe to say that most of your favorite The Good Doctor cast members will return for season 3, from Freddie Highmore to Nicholas Gonzalez (Dr. Neil Melendez), Antonia Thomas (Dr. Claire Browne), and Christina Chang (Dr. Audrey Lim). But after Dr. Jackson Han was removed from his position as chief of surgery at St. Bonaventure in the season 2 finale, it seems unlikely that he’ll remain a recurring character in season 3.

In a March interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner David Shore hinted that, while he’s largely done with Dr. Han’s storyline, the door is still open for actor Daniel DaeKim to make another appearance: “I liked the character and had fun with it … The arc that we were dealing with is now complete, but that doesn’t mean the character can’t come back, and I very much would be open to that,” he said.

Are there any good season 3 spoilers yet?

Nope, no super-juicy The Good Doctor season 3 spoilers have leaked as of yet. But here’s what we do know: Shaun’s love life is going to play a much bigger role in the upcoming episodes. After Shaun got up the courage to ask out his former coworker Carly (Jasika Nicole) in the season 2 finale, Shore told EW that he sees this being a major storyline in season 3.

“I think next season, that’s going to be a lot of what we’re looking at – [Shaun’s] social life and him growing as a man who wants to be loved,” Shore said. “I want to fully explore all the aspects of that and all those landmarks along the way.”

  1. This is my favorite show of all. Now this is about a doctor and I don’t think the show should turn into a corny romance drama. I love it because how Shaun draws out how he thinks he can heal the patient and then actually gets the patient get well and even saves lives. This is why I LOVE THIS SHOW. Just like how House had his own way of healing his patients. I don’t want this to turn into the whole relationship thing. Maybe just a short segment of the show. It should stay about he being a Dr. And learning how to be a better Dr like being able to communicate and be a team player.
